X Grok CSAM Policy: Shifting Blame to Users
On January 3, 2026, X Safety officially responded to a one-week backlash regarding Grok's ability to sexualize real people without consent. In a notable shift from industry norms, X didn't apologize for the AI's functionality. Instead, they blamed the creators behind the prompts.
Anyone using or prompting Grok to make illegal content will suffer the same consequences as if they upload illegal content.
Consequences of Misusing AI on X
The platform's safety team outlined a zero-tolerance policy for CSAM and other illegal outputs. They've committed to working with law enforcement and local governments to track and prosecute offenders.
