Is it a car, or a $89,900 rolling living room? Sony Honda Mobility (SHM) returned to CES 2026 to showcase the refined version of its AFEELA 1 electric vehicle. This year, the focus shifted from flashy gimmicks to the polished fundamentals required for its upcoming road debut.

AFEELA 1 Price and Interior Focus

SHM reiterated its vision of 'mobility as a creative entertainment space.' The centerpiece remains the massive panoramic dashboard display, which handles everything from navigation to third-party apps. A standout feature is PlayStation Remote Play. Users can stream PS5 games directly to the rear displays using a DualSense controller. Reports from the demo floor suggest the connection is now more stable with negligible input lag, though it doesn't support 4K streaming yet.

AI Personal Agent and Productivity

The vehicle's AI assistant is powered by Microsoft Azure OpenAI, acting as a personal agent that learns user preferences over time. Beyond gaming, the AFEELA 1 supports productivity tools like Zoom. However, the wide-angle internal camera captures the entire cabin, which might be a surprise for users accustomed to tightly framed laptop webcams.

Future SUV and Production Roadmap

SHM also unveiled the AFEELA Prototype 2026, an SUV-style variant of its flagship EV. While it shares the same design language as the AFEELA 1, the SUV isn't expected to hit production until 2028 at the earliest. For now, the company is focusing on delivering the first units of the sedan to California customers later in 2026.
