This isn't just about blocking bad words anymore. The platform's AI "translates" inappropriate language "into more respectful language that remains closer to the user's original intent," according to Roblox. Every time it happens, all chat participants get notified that the text has been rephrased "to keep things civil."

Parents: Relief or Overreach?

With 180 million monthly active users and 54% under 13, Roblox's move touches a nerve for parents worldwide. The reactions are split down generational lines.

"Finally, something that protects kids without just shutting down communication," says one parent on Reddit. But others worry about AI making judgment calls about their children's expression. "Who decided what 'respectful' means?" asks another.
