Beckham-Backed Prenetics Bitcoin Purchase Halt: A Pivot to $100M Health Success
Prenetics, backed by David Beckham, halts its Bitcoin purchasing strategy to focus on its booming IM8 health business with $100M+ in ARR.
A high-profile corporate bet on crypto is hitting the brakes. Prenetics, the health sciences firm co-founded by football icon David Beckham, has officially scrapped its daily Bitcoin accumulation strategy as the digital asset market struggles to find its footing.
Prenetics Bitcoin Purchase Halt Driven by IM8 Growth
The company announced on Tuesday that it stopped buying Bitcoin on Dec. 4. The focus is now shifting entirely to its IM8 supplement business, which has been an explosive success. In just 11 months, IM8 has generated over $100 million in annualized recurring revenue (ARR), far exceeding internal projections.
Despite the Prenetics Bitcoin purchase halt, the firm isn't liquidating its existing holdings. It will keep its 510 bitcoin, currently valued at nearly $45 million, as a reserve asset. CEO Danny Yeung stated that the board unanimously agreed to devote "undivided attention" to the visible opportunity in the health sector.
