Despite the President's public comments, the Pentagon, White House, and CIA have declined to comment to Reuters. No independent reports of such a strike have emerged from within Venezuela. Interestingly, a chemical plant named Primazol in Zulia state denied that a fire at its facility on Christmas Eve was the event Trump alluded to.

A Massive Military Buildup

The Trump administration has overseen a significant buildup in the region, deploying over 15,000 troops. To date, more than 100 people have been killed in over 20 strikes across the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific. A controversial strike in September that killed 11 people has already drawn scrutiny from Congressional Democrats regarding international law.
