According to Reuters, the IT arm of Samsung Group saw its fourth-quarter net profit fall 4.3% year-on-year to 187.9 billion won (approx. $128.2 million). While operating profit for the quarter rose 6.9% to 226.1 billion won, it still landed 3.5% below market estimates.
Full-year 2025 figures also told a story of resilience amidst headwinds. Annual revenue edged up 0.7% to 13.92 trillion won, and operating income grew 5% to 957.1 billion won. However, the company's net profit for the year slipped 0.9% to 782.7 billion won.
Betting on Generative AI and Cloud for 2026
Samsung SDS attributed the lackluster sales and net profit to a sluggish global economic recovery and reduced IT spending by corporate clients. To counter these challenges, the firm is doubling down on its flagship cloud services and generative AI offerings.
The company recently partnered with OpenAI to resell ChatGPT solutions to Korean enterprises, signaling its intent to dominate the local B2B AI market. Leadership stated they'll continue to "navigate lingering uncertainties" by leveraging their advanced data centers, like the one located in Hwaseong, to drive technological innovation.
