In China, Chung moved to secure the group's EV supply chain. According to a company press release, he met with CATL Chairman Zeng Yuqun to discuss battery collaboration and explored hydrogen ventures with Sinopec. The group plans to launch six dedicated EV models in China by 2030, following the recent debut of the Elexio.

The U.S. leg of the trip focused on AI and robotics at CES 2026 in Las Vegas. Chung held private meetings with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Qualcomm executives. The spotlight of the exhibition was Atlas, the next-gen humanoid by Boston Dynamics, showcasing the group's transition into a robotics powerhouse.

India as a Strategic Export Powerhouse

The final stop was India, where Hyundai currently holds a 20% market share. With an annual capacity of 1.5 million vehicles across three plants, Chung emphasized a "home-brand" strategy. Following the record-breaking 2024 IPO of its Indian unit, the group aims to transform the country into its primary global export hub.
