Monday's strike targeted the headquarters of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) 17th Infantry Division. Sinja sits along a vital route to Khartoum, located about 300km (180 miles) to the north. While the army claimed to have repelled the attack with anti-aircraft defenses, the human cost remains high. Reports on the wounded vary, with AFP citing as many as 73 injuries.

The war hit its 1,000th day last Friday. According to the UN, more than 21 million people—nearly 45% of the population—are pushing toward starvation. The conflict has forced 13.6 million from their homes, creating the world's largest displacement crisis.
