Former Disney Actor Matt Prokop Arrested on Child Pornography Charges

A former Disney Channel star is facing a grim reality behind bars. Matt Prokop, best known for his roles in High School Musical 3 and Geek Charming, was reportedly arrested in Texas on several serious counts, including possession of child pornography.

According to reports from PEOPLE and Victoria County officials, the 35-year-old actor was taken into custody on December 24, 2025. Prokop faces one count of second-degree felony possession of child pornography. Additionally, he's dealing with four misdemeanor charges: evading arrest, violation of a bond protective order, and two counts of resisting arrest or transport.

The actor is currently held in the Victoria County Sheriff's Office Jail. This arrest marks a sharp decline for the performer who once played the energetic Jimmie Zara at East High.

Prokop isn't a stranger to legal controversies. Back in 2014, his former girlfriend and Modern Family star Sarah Hyland obtained a restraining order against him. Hyland accused Prokop of physical abuse and threats during their five-year relationship. Recently, Hyland spoke out about surviving domestic abuse, emphasizing the isolation victims often feel.
