Priced at $189, it serves as a budget-friendly alternative to the flagship Halo line, trading built-in Wi-Fi for the emerging Matter-over-Thread standard.

Kwikset Aura Reach Smart Lock: Features and Connectivity

According to reports from The Verge, the Aura Reach focuses on efficiency. By utilizing Thread instead of power-hungry Wi-Fi, the lock promises better battery life and more reliable connectivity within a Matter ecosystem. While it integrates seamlessly with Apple Home, it doesn't support the premium Apple Home Key tap-to-unlock feature found in more expensive models.

What You Sacrifice for the Lower Price Point

To hit the $189 price mark, Kwikset made several compromises. The Aura Reach carries a Grade 2 security rating, a step down from the Grade 1 rating found on the Halo series. It also lacks an integrated door sensor, meaning users won't get native alerts if the door is left ajar without purchasing additional hardware.
