While the world pushes for stability, Japan stands alone in its skepticism toward Korean Peninsula peace efforts. According to a report released Tuesday by the Korea Institute for National Unification, only 36.7% of Japanese citizens support diplomatic efforts for peace—a figure that's significantly lower than the global average.

The survey, conducted from August 11-18, 2025, polled 1,000 respondents in seven countries including Germany, Sweden, and Poland, along with 2,000 in the United States. Japan recorded the lowest figures across the board, with only 25.8% favoring economic support and a mere 12.7% backing military aid. In contrast, support for diplomatic solutions in the other seven nations ranged from 63.8% to 76.6%.
