The God of Thunder is trading his hammer for the Blades of Chaos. Amazon Prime Video just announced that Ryan Hurst, the veteran actor who voiced Thor in the game series, will take on the lead role of Kratos in the upcoming live-action 'God of War' drama.

The live-action adaptation, led by showrunner Ronald D. Moore, focuses on the narrative arc that began in the 2018 reboot. Following the death of his wife, Kratos must navigate the icy realms of Norse mythology with his young son, Atreus. Emmy-winner Frederick E.O. Toye—known for 'Shōgun' and 'Fallout'—is set to direct the first two episodes.
