'The Voice' Alum Kata Hay Arrested on Vehicular Homicide Warrant After Deadly Crash

Kata Hay, a memorable contestant from season 10 of 'The Voice,' has been arrested on a warrant for vehicular homicide in connection with a fatal car crash in Tennessee. Hay, who competed on Team Christina Aguilera, was taken into custody in Oklahoma last week.

According to jail records viewed by Entertainment Weekly, Hay (legal name Kata Huddleston) was booked into the Osage County Jail on December 17. Her arrest came just one day after the Goodlettsville Police Department in Tennessee sought the public's help, posting her photo on Facebook. The department later announced she was located thanks to a "multitude of citizens who called in with tips."

Hay's charges are listed as fugitive from justice and a hold for Tennessee authorities. She is scheduled for a court appearance on January 22, 2026. Police stated the warrant stemmed from a motor vehicle crash in Davidson County, though specific details about the incident have not yet been released. She is set to be extradited back to Tennessee.

Fans of 'The Voice' will remember Hay for her spirited audition, a rendition of Gretchen Wilson’s “Redneck Woman” that made three judges turn their chairs. After choosing Christina Aguilera as her coach, Hay declared the superstar was her first “girl crush,” which led to a brief, headline-making peck on the lips. She ultimately made it to the Top 20 before being eliminated.

This is not Hay's first run-in with the law. According to local outlet WKRN, the singer pleaded guilty in 2022 to having sexual contact with a minor in Sumner County, Tenn., and was sentenced to six months in jail. Prior to that, she was on probation for a 2017 DUI charge.
