In the upcoming 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, hitting theaters this weekend, O'Connell portrays Sir Jimmy Crystal. According to Entertainment Weekly, Jimmy is a flamboyant cult leader who commands a group of followers—all named Jimmy—to wear matching tracksuits and tattered blonde wigs.

The choice of purple was O'Connell's own contribution. He vied for the color of royalty to contrast Jimmy's sadism with a sense of luxury. "There was a real flamboyance within his speeches," the 35-year-old actor noted, explaining that while other cult members scavenge their outfits, Jimmy remains impeccably, if bizarrely, dressed.

A Blend of Sadism and Situational Comedy

Director Nia DaCosta weaves moments of dark humor into the horror. One standout scene involves the collective of "Jimmies" spying on Ralph Fiennes from the woods. O'Connell finds the most haunting villains to be those who don't display obvious psychopathic traits, opting instead for a performance that balances genuine threat with unexpected laughs.
