According to Us Weekly, the 45-year-old actress confirmed the news in an interview published Friday, January 2, 2026. Reflecting on "life’s messiness" ahead of her book launch, Shahi noted that while fans' investment in their romance was heartwarming, it made the split feel like "going through it twice."

The couple first met on the set of the provocative Netflix series in 2021. Their real-life chemistry mirrored the intense relationship between their characters, Billie and Brad, turning them into a fan-favorite power couple in the streaming era.

Struggles Behind the Scenes

Their relationship wasn't without its public hurdles. During the production of Season 2, Shahi voiced her frustration over the lack of scenes with Demos, claiming he appeared for only about 60 seconds in total. Despite these challenges, the pair remained together well after the show's cancellation in 2023.

Shahi, who ended an 11-year marriage to Steve Howey in 2020, emphasized that this ending isn't a failure. With three children to co-parent, she remains focused on finding peace and showing her kids the courage required to let go when things are out of sync.
