While her official profile long listed her as being born in 1993, Jin Se Yeon confirmed that she was actually born in February 1994. She explained that because she debuted at the incredibly young age of a high school freshman, her agency felt she needed a more mature image. Listing her as a year older helped her land adult roles that might have been out of reach if she were perceived as a mere middle schooler.

This isn't the first time the issue has come up. Back in 2012, fans noticed her telling 'Five Fingers' co-star Ji Chang Wook that she was 7 years younger than him, which contradicted her profile at the time. Her agency later clarified that since she was an 'early-year' baby, she attended school with 1993-born students, making the transition feel more natural for her peer group.
