A Survival Race Against the Elements

Meteorologist Laith al-Allami told the Anadolu agency that a fourth storm is forecast to hit the region on Monday. In Deir al-Balah, displaced families are struggling to keep their makeshift shelters upright. "Every time it rains and the tent collapses over our heads, we try to put up new pieces of wood," said Shaima Wadi, a mother of four. She noted that soaring prices make it impossible to afford even basic mattresses for her children.

Political Stalemate vs. Humanitarian Urgency

The humanitarian disaster unfolds as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prepares to visit Washington, DC. Negotiators are currently debating the second stage of the ceasefire that began on October 10. However, the truce remains fragile. Since it took effect, over 414 Palestinians have been killed, and the total death toll has climbed to 71,266, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health.
