In an interview with PEOPLE, Heughan admitted that while the production is 'in the can,' the true ending remains a mystery until the final edit is complete. "We don't really know how it ends," he declared, adding that the upcoming season—set to premiere on March 6, 2026—will be a journey of "reconciliation, war, and eternity."

This final chapter is particularly significant because the television adaptation is concluding before author Diana Gabaldon has published the 10th book in her best-selling series. Heughan acknowledged that the show's ending is a departure from the books in some ways, but he remains confident that it does justice to the characters and the fans who have followed Jamie and Claire since 2014.
