According to an investigation by Android Headlines, parent company Oppo is planning to wind down the brand in the near future. The report cites multiple unnamed sources and dismal sales figures, describing the situation as "damning." It's claimed that OnePlus is being dismantled and put on life support until its remaining commitments are honored.

The report further alleges that some corporate headquarters have already been shuttered and high-profile projects, such as the next-gen foldable, have been canceled. Android Headlines publisher Chris Yackulic stated, "The brand is being dismantled... That’s not speculation. That’s the playbook, and we’ve watched it run before."

OnePlus Executives Fire Back

In response, OnePlus leadership hasn't stayed silent. Robin Liu, CEO of OnePlus India, issued a statement on X calling the reports false and emphasizing that business operations continue as normal. The North American branch echoed this sentiment, assuring users that software updates and after-sales support remain fully guaranteed.

While it's common for struggling companies to deny shutdown reports to avoid a death spiral, the stakes are high. The OnePlus 15, released in late 2025, was widely considered one of the best phones of the year. Losing the brand would leave a significant hole in the Western mobile market, which is currently dominated by the Apple-Google-Samsung triad.
