Noah Schnapp Stranger Things Finale Scene: The Closure Will and Mike Needed

The finale was set, but Noah Schnapp felt something was missing. As Stranger Things concluded its epic five-season run last month, the actor behind Will Byers stepped in to ensure his character's most important relationship got the ending it deserved.

According to reports from Entertainment Weekly, Schnapp didn't believe the story between Will and his longtime friend Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard) was fully resolved heading into the final episode. After Will came out to his friends in Episode 7, Schnapp felt there was "a little bit left unsaid" that needed to be addressed before the screen went dark for good.

Schnapp told PEOPLE that he spoke directly to creators Matt and Ross Duffer about his concerns. "They included a scene in the finale that wasn't originally there to kind of close that story properly," Schnapp revealed. The new sequence features the two friends climbing a radio tower, a moment that allowed for a vulnerable heart-to-heart.

Best Friends and Personal Paths

In the added scene, Mike apologizes to Will for not being supportive enough during their recent struggles. Will, in turn, assures Mike that he had to find his own path. The two reaffirmed their bond as "best friends," providing a sense of stability after years of supernatural chaos.

Reflecting on the shoot, Schnapp noted that the entire cast was incredibly supportive, especially during the high-pressure coming-out sequence which was filmed between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. "They gave me that space—usually everyone's messing around—and I really appreciated that," he said.
