Stalling Momentum: Nintendo Switch 2 Sales 2025 Figures

According to a report from The Game Business, the initial frenzy for the console has cooled significantly. In the US, sales for November and December plummeted by about 35 percent compared to the original Switch’s performance during the same period in 2017.

The slowdown isn't isolated to North America. The UK saw a 16 percent dip, while France experienced a steeper 30 percent decline. Industry analysts suggest this reflects a broader cooling of the "Christmas sales window" across major European markets, raising questions about long-term demand.

Japanese Market Defies Global Trends

Interestingly, the console's performance remains resilient in its home territory. In Japan, holiday sales only dropped by 5.5 percent. Looking at the full launch year, Japanese sales are actually up 11 percent. This is likely due to a cheaper Japan-only SKU that remains insulated from the volatility of international currency valuations.
