Earlier in the day, East African rivals Uganda and Tanzania shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. In front of a crowd of 10,540, the match concluded with high drama. Uganda had a golden opportunity to win in the 90th minute through a penalty, but Allan Okello's shot sailed over the bar, reportedly due to a mistimed distraction from a massive clap of thunder.
