Who'll steer Gaza's future? The White House just unveiled the names. Donald Trump's administration announced the members of the so-called 'Board of Peace' on Friday, signaling a radical shift in Middle East governance.

According to Reuters, the board's roster includes heavyweight political and financial figures. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, and special envoy Steve Witkoff are at the forefront. Surprisingly, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair has also joined the group, despite past criticism regarding his role in the Iraq war.

The board, which Trump himself chairs, will supervise a Palestinian technocratic body. Other notable members include Marc Rowan, a billionaire private equity executive, and Ajay Banga, President of the World Bank. Nickolay Mladenov, the former UN envoy, will serve as the High Representative for Gaza.

Stabilization Force and a Fragile Ceasefire

To enforce the plan, Major General Jasper Jeffers has been appointed commander of the International Stabilization Force. This force was authorized by a UN Security Council resolution in mid-November. However, the ground reality remains grim. Since the truce began in October, over 440 Palestinians—including more than 100 children—and 3 Israeli soldiers have died due to ceasefire violations.

The conflict since 2023 has left tens of thousands dead and displaced nearly the entire population of Gaza. While the White House frames the board as a path to prosperity, rights experts argue it resembles a colonial structure, placing foreign territory under direct American and international oversight.
