Mobileye, the Intel subsidiary and a dominant force in automotive vision, announced Tuesday it's acquiring Mentee Robotics for a staggering $900 million. The deal includes $612 million in cash and up to 26.2 million shares. Co-founder and President Amnon Shashua, who also co-founded Mentee in 2022, recused himself from the board’s approval process to ensure transparency.

This acquisition marks what Shashua calls 'Mobileye 3.0.' It's a strategic pivot from purely automotive ADAS to 'Physical Artificial Intelligence'—systems capable of understanding human context and intent in the physical world. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026, with a minor impact on the company's operating expenses.

Scaling Beyond the Dashboard

While humanoid robots are a long-term play, Mobileye isn't losing sight of its core business. The company recently secured a massive deal with a 'top 10 automaker' for 9 million units of its EyeQ6H-based Surround ADAS systems. Its revenue pipeline has surged to $24.5 billion over the next eight years, a 40% jump from two years ago.

By acquiring Mentee Robotics, Mobileye intends to leverage its existing AI training infrastructure to accelerate the development of humanoids. Shashua believes that the combination of automotive autonomy expertise and humanoid breakthroughs creates a unique opportunity to lead the global evolution of AI.
