U.S. Marshals Join Hunt for Timothy Busfield Amid Child Sex Abuse Warrant

A nationwide search is underway for veteran actor Timothy Busfield. The Albuquerque Police Department (APD) confirmed it's working alongside the U.S. Marshals Service to locate the 68-year-old performer after an arrest warrant was issued for alleged unlawful sexual conduct involving 11-year-old twin boys.

The investigation reportedly began in November 2024 after a doctor at the University of New Mexico Hospital alerted authorities. According to the warrant, the victims are child actors who met Busfield on the set of the FOX series The Cleaning Lady, where he served as an executive producer and director. One of the boys alleged that the abuse started when he was just 7 years old, describing the conduct as being masked as 'play' or affection.

The allegations suggest a pattern of grooming. When the mother asked her sons about uncomfortable touching, they reportedly responded, "You mean like Uncle Tim?" Warner Bros. previously launched an internal probe following an anonymous SAG-AFTRA hotline complaint about Busfield's behavior toward minors on set, though an outside law firm could not find conclusive evidence at the time.

Fallout and Legal Stakes

Busfield has denied the claims, telling police in November 2025 that the accusations were a result of the mother seeking 'revenge' for casting decisions. His wife, Melissa Gilbert, has since deleted her social media accounts. Under New Mexico statutes, the actor could face three years to life in prison if convicted, as the charges involve children under 13.
