He explained that before finding a home at the Canadian streamer Crave, the series was in development at a major US platform. However, executive notes demanded significant changes to the MM romance's steamy nature, including a ban on physical affection for the first five episodes.

Series creator Jacob Tierney chose to walk away from the larger budget offered in the US to maintain his vision. Arnaud noted that this decision was a "huge lesson for Hollywood," proving that a niche show without massive movie stars can become a sensation if it remains authentic to its characters' sex lives and emotions.

Breaking the 'Puritanical' Mold

The series follows the intense relationship between rival hockey players Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov. Tierney argued that sex is a vital part of who these characters are, not just an optional add-on.
