Bridgerton Season 4 Trailer: Benedict's Cinderella Story Unveiled for Jan. 29 Premiere

Bridgerton is officially entering its fairy tale era. Netflix dropped a Christmas Day treat for fans with the first official trailer for 'Bridgerton' season 4. The new season centers on the second eldest son, Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson), as he embarks on a Cinderella-esque quest to find a mysterious woman he meets at a masquerade ball.

A Midnight Mystery and a Single Glove

The trailer opens with Benedict at a masquerade ball, where he meets "perhaps the most intriguing person I've ever met." But as every fairy tale enthusiast knows, the magic has a deadline. As the clock strikes midnight, the masked woman flees, leaving a lovestruck Benedict with only a single glove as a clue to her identity, according to Entertainment Weekly. The twist, revealed only to viewers, is that she is a maid named Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha). They later cross paths again, but she keeps her true identity a secret.

Sophie Baek: No Damsel in Distress

This isn't your typical Cinderella story, however. Showrunner Jess Brownell told Entertainment Weekly, "In the case of Sophie Baek, she is no such thing [as a damsel in distress]." Brownell teased that audiences will get to watch a "very headstrong young woman try to decide her fate for herself," subverting the classic trope.

The trailer also offers glimpses of other storylines, including matriarch Lady Violet Bridgerton's budding romance with Lord Marcus Anderson, and a look at the newlywed lives of Colin and Penelope, as well as Francesca and John Stirling. 'Bridgerton' season 4 Part 1 arrives on Netflix on January 29, with Part 2 following on February 26.
