Legal Consequences After Fatal Highway Collision

Police in southwestern Ogun State confirmed that Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, faces charges of reckless and dangerous driving. Kayode was operating the Lexus SUV that rammed into a stationary truck, resulting in the immediate deaths of Joshua’s friends, Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami. The court granted the defendant bail set at 5 million naira (approximately $3,480), though he remains in custody pending the fulfillment of bail conditions.

Excessive Speed and Mechanical Failure

Initial reports from the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TCEA) indicate that excessive speed was a decisive factor in the tragedy. The agency's investigation revealed that a tire burst moments before the collision on the busy Lagos-Ibadan highway.
