Trump's Christmas Message Includes Greetings for 'Radical Left Scum'

Was it a message of Christmas peace or a political declaration of war? On Christmas Eve, U.S. President Donald Trump assailed opposition Democrats in a holiday message from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. According to AFP, Trump posted on his Truth Social platform, saying, "Merry Christmas to all, including the Radical Left Scum that is doing everything possible to destroy our Country, but are failing badly."

The message stood in stark contrast to his more traditional activities of the day, which included participating in NORAD Santa tracker calls and sending Christmas greetings to American troops stationed worldwide.

Touting Economic Wins Amid Mixed Signals

In his post, Trump claimed credit for a "Record Stock Market and 401K’s, Lowest Crime numbers in decades, No Inflation." He also highlighted a recently released 4.3%GDP growth for the third quarter, which he noted was "two points better than expected." The figure aligns with Commerce Department data showing it as the highest growth rate in two years.

However, the same report showed the price index for domestic purchases rose by 3.4%, a significant increase compared with the 2.0% reading in the second quarter. This data point appears to challenge his claim of "No Inflation."

A Holiday Message Steeped in Partisan Feud

The president's sharp-tongued greeting came just a day after Democrats had criticized the Justice Department over its handling of records from the investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who was once a friend of Trump. It's also known that the troops he greeted included those part of a U.S. naval buildup in Caribbean waters, part of a campaign to pressure Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro to leave office.
