This New Vacuum Cleans Itself—And It Won't Stink Up Your Closet

Source

Tired of smelly wet-dry vacuums that are a pain to maintain? The Eureka Floorshine 880 features odor-removal tech and a self-cleaning, hot-air drying system to solve the problem.

Wet-dry vacuums are convenient, but let's be honest: they can get gross.

The ability to tackle spilled cereal and pet hair in a single pass has made wet-dry vacuums a modern household staple. But they come with a dirty secret: the lingering, unpleasant odor from the dirty-water tank. Nothing kills your motivation to clean faster than grabbing a tool that smells worse than the mess you're about to tackle.

Appliance maker Eureka says it has a solution. Its new FloorShine 880 is designed not just to clean your floors, but to solve the nagging problem of machine maintenance and odor, incorporating what it calls an "Industry-Exclusive Odour Removal Technology."

Solving the Smell Problem at the Source

What sets the FloorShine 880 apart is a built-in deodorizer that, according to the company, actively targets and neutralizes odors inside the dirty-water tank. This means the machine stays fresh between uses, so you don't have to meticulously clean it after every small spill just to avoid that dreaded sour smell.

Designed for Real-World Messes

Beyond odor control, the FloorShine 880 is engineered for effortless cleaning. It boasts an impressive 180-degree lie-flat capability, allowing it to slide under low furniture like beds and couches without requiring you to switch to another tool or strain your back.

"For pet owners, the new Anti-Tangle 4.0 brush-roller features a stainless steel design with 104 comb teeth to prevent constant manual hair removal."

It also tackles one of the biggest frustrations with vacuums: dirty edges. Its Triple-Side Edge Cleaning system ensures the brush cleans flush against baseboards and into corners on its left, right, and front sides, promising a true edge-to-edge clean.

Smart, Not Just Strong

Maneuverability is powered by a Smart DualDrive system that offers forward and reverse assistance, making the machine feel almost self-propelled. You're guiding it, not lugging it.

This is paired with Smart Dirt Detection, which automatically adjusts suction power and water flow in real-time as it senses different levels of debris. It seamlessly moves from a light dusting on tile to a sticky spill on the carpet without you touching a single button. The machine even dispenses detergent automatically, with refills needed only every 45 days or so.

The Final Step: It Cleans and Dries Itself

Once your floors are spotless, the FloorShine 880 takes care of its own cleanup. Simply place it on its charging base and press a pedal. The One-Step Self-Cleaning system flushes debris from the brush and internal tubing.

Crucially, it then uses hot air to thoroughly dry the brush roller. This final step prevents mildew and bacteria growth, working with the deodorizer to ensure the machine is completely clean, dry, and ready for its next use.

PRISM Insight: The evolution of smart home devices is shifting from task automation to 'maintenance automation.' Products are now designed not just to do a job, but to clean and maintain themselves, reducing the total user effort to near zero. This signals a new standard in consumer robotics where the device's lifecycle and upkeep are as important as its primary function.

Pricing and Availability

The Eureka FloorShine 880 retails for A$1,099. According to the company, it will be available on Amazon Australia at a 27% discount for A$799 during a promotional period from December 24 to December 30.
