Jimmy Kimmel Slams Donald Trump in UK Christmas Speech: "Tyranny Is Booming"

An American comedian just crashed Britain's Christmas Day. U.S. talk show host Jimmy Kimmel delivered a blistering televised speech aimed at Donald Trump on the U.K.'s Channel 4, part of the network's 'Alternative Christmas Message.' Kimmel called the United States "a right mess" and issued an apology to the international audience, urging them not to give up on the nation.

An 'Alternative' Message Becomes a Political Broadside

Channel 4's annual broadcast is designed as counter-programming to the traditional royal holiday address. According to a New York Times report, the 58-year-old host opened his December 25th remarks by stating, "from a fascism perspective, this has been a really great year. Tyranny is booming over here." He went on to claim that Trump wanted to "shut me up because I don’t adore him in the way he likes to be adored."

Kimmel's comments appear to reference his temporary suspension from ABC following on-air remarks he made after the September 10 assassination of commentator Charlie Kirk. At the time, the 79-year-oldTrump and other conservatives publicly called for Kimmel's show to be canceled. "We won, the president lost, and now I’m back on the air every night," Kimmel stated in his speech.

The Comedy War Goes Global

Kimmel referred to Trump as “King Donny the Eighth” and “the guy who thinks he is our king,” accusing his administration of "figuratively and literally tearing down the structures of our democracy." While admitting America is “going through a bit of a wobble,” he asked the British public to “give us about three years" to course-correct with the 2028 presidential election.

This isn't an isolated incident. Just after midnight on Christmas Eve, Trump lashed out on social media at another late-night host, Stephen Colbert of CBS, calling him a "pathetic trainwreck" and "A dead man walking!"
