Jessica Alba Reveals 'Humiliating' Fantastic Four Scene She Dreaded for Weeks

She played the Invisible Woman, but one scene made her feel painfully visible. Nearly 20 years after its release, Jessica Alba has opened up about a 'humiliating' moment on the set of 2005's Fantastic Four, shedding light on the pressures faced by actresses in a different era of Hollywood.

"It Was Very Humiliating"

During an appearance at the Red Sea Film Festival, Alba revealed that her 'least favorite scene' was the movie's infamous bridge moment, according to Variety. The scene required her character, Sue Storm, to strip down in public to become fully invisible.

"I thought that was awful," Alba told attendees. "It was very humiliating in real life. I grew up with a pretty conservative family, and I am a pretty modest person. I dreaded that scene for weeks." The actress admitted she has "a lot of whiplash from those days."

Love for the Character, Torch Passed to a New Cast

However, Alba stressed that the uncomfortable experience didn't diminish her love for the character. She praised Sue Storm for breaking gender stereotypes of the time. "She was very maternal and very kind, but also not a pushover; she spoke her mind," Alba said. "Oftentimes, the women in these stories need to be saved by a guy... This was back then. It's different now."

After the 2007 sequel, Alba hung up her superhero suit. The torch has since been passed to Vanessa Kirby, who plays Sue Storm in the new MCU movie, 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps,' alongside Pedro Pascal. When asked if she's seen Kirby's interpretation, Alba admitted she hasn't yet, humorously blaming her kids' movie preferences. "If Sonic was out, my son wants to watch it 85 times in a row," she said.
